    Will you be watching Ruby Speaking, the new call centre sitcom? 🎭Comedian Jayde Adams has created a new show for ITVX set in a Bristol call centre, in which she plays chaotic telephone ☎️ agent (the eponymous Ruby) navigating life and going "off script". It sounds pretty fun, but the reality of the contact centre environment and experience is changing - and it's becoming less and less about calls at all. In fact, with more ways for customers to engage with and feed back 🗪 to brands, organisations need a complete overhaul of their contact centre systems. For example, new research shared in PR Newswire has found that over 20% of customers will take to social media 📲 to complain about sub-par customer service, which can have a real impact on a brand's image. Similarly, Verint's own State of Digital Customer Experience report found that digital channels 💻 were increasingly becoming the conduit of choice for conveying queries, messages, and feedback to an organisation, with 48% preferring to reach out digitally.     Quick question: 🤔 Why are callback features NOT an automatic feature of all customer service lines, especially government customer service lines that are bound to take a long time to get answered? ☎ Give people back their time. ⌛️ Install a callback feature. It's 2023. No reason to listen to annoying hold music for 45 minutes. 🎵🙉Once we're on the topic, if you are going to force people to listen to hold music for 45 minutes straight, stop interrupting the music with a "quick" announcement about how we can get access to certain features on your website.
